Everyone's favorite Napoleon cake has many cooking options. In order not to mess around with puff pastry for a long time, people have learned to replace the classic base with ready-made dough, cookies, and even pita bread. You will be pleasantly surprised, but the taste of the dessert is practically no different from the original. In addition, traditional custard can be supplemented with berries or fruit. For example, apricots.

Food blogger Oksana Komashchuk (komashchuk_ksu) shared a recipe for a Napoleon cake made of pita bread with apricot custard on her Instagram page.

Ingredients:

  • pita bread - 1 package
  • milk - 250 ml
  • eggs - 2 pcs
  • sugar - 100 g
  • flour - 50 g

  • corn starch - 1 tsp.
  • apricots - 300 g
  • sugar - 2 tbsp
  • corn starch - 1 tbsp.

Method of preparation:

1. Dry the pita bread in the oven at 180 degrees for 5-7 minutes.

2. For the cream, beat the eggs and sugar with a whisk.

3. Add flour, starch, cold milk. Put in a water bath and stirring constantly, bring to a thickening. Remove from heat and cool.

4. Cook apricots with sugar and starch over low heat for 3-4 minutes. Cool, beat with a blender. Add the resulting mass to the cream.

5. Assemble the cake. Put in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours.
