Mushroom Napoleon with delicious sauce for a festive table
Napoleon cake is one of the most popular and delicious cakes you can make at home. It is worth noting that there are many recipes for this dish, including not only sweet but also salty ones.
The FoodOboz editorial team has chosen a variant of the delicious Napoleon with mushrooms, the recipe of which was published on Instagram (tartaletika)
Dough:
- 420 g of whole wheat flour
- 260 g of butter
- 1 egg
- 5 g of salt
- 65 g of ice water
- 5 g of vinegar
Method of preparation:
1. Beat oil and flour with a spatula or by hand. Add egg, lightly beaten with water, and salt and vinegar.
2. Knead a homogeneous dough.
3. Divide into 7 pieces. Leave to rest under the film for 30 minutes.
4. Roll out each piece into a thin layer.
5. Prick the dough with a fork and bake at 180 °C for about 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
Mushroom filling
1. Boil the mushrooms and chop and fry in vegetable oil with onions.
Bechamel sauce:
- 1 liter of milk
- 100 g of wheat flour
- 100 g of butter
- Salt, ground black pepper
Method of preparation:
1. Melt butter in a saucepan.
2. Add flour and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly with a spatula. You should get a soft mass.
3. Gradually add hot milk, salt, spices and stir each portion until smooth with a whisk. Cook for another 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
4. Transfer to a clean bowl and cover with cling film.
Assemble the cake:
1. Spread a layer of bechamel sauce on each baked layer of dough, place the fried mushrooms on top, and cover with the next layer of dough.
2. The top layer is the crumbled crispy dough crust.
3. Cover with baking paper, place a board on top, and chill the cake for several hours.
