Lazy Napoleon without dough and baking: the recipe for the most delicious cake
Napoleon cake is a delicious dessert that is easy to make at home. It is based on thin puff cakes and airy custard. As an alternative, the cake can be made without dough - from cookies or pita bread - and it tastes just as good.
Popular pastry chef Lilia Tsvit shared a recipe for a homemade Napoleon cake based on puff pastry and custard on her YouTube channel Lilia Tsvit.
Ingredients:
- Puff pastry - 500 g
Cream:
- milk - 1 liter
- eggs - 2 pcs.
- sugar - 200 g
- vanilla sugar - 1 p
- starch - 80 g
- butter - 100 g
Method of preparation:
1. Mix eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar and starch in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Stir until there are no lumps.
2. Gradually pour in the milk and stir until smooth. Put on low heat and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. As soon as the mass begins to boil and becomes thick, remove from heat.
3. Add the butter to the cream. Stir and beat with a blender until smooth. Leave for 10-15 minutes to cool slightly.
4. Form the cake: put a layer of cookies and a layer of cream on the bottom of the mold until you run out of ingredients (the last layer should be cream). At the same time, leave some cookies to decorate the cake.
5. Sprinkle the cake with cookie crumbs on top and refrigerate for 2 hours.
