Ingredients:

  • apples - 1 kg
  • butter - 150 g
  • flour - 250 g
  • salt - a pinch
  • drinking water - 125 ml
  • egg yolks - 2 pcs.
  • lemon juice - 4 tbsp
  • raisins - 100 g
  • chopped almonds - 75 g
  • white bread - 100 g
  • sour cream - 125 g
  • sugar - 100 g
  • ground cinnamon - 1 tsp.
  • powdered sugar - 2 tbsp.

How to make apple strudel at home
  1. Dough: Sift the flour twice directly onto the table, add salt, and make a well in the flour. Melt the butter and heat the water well.
  2. Gently add the butter, water, and egg yolks to the well and mix well. Then knead it with your hands for about 10 minutes to make it elastic. Make it into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and leave it for 1 hour at room temperature. The dough should increase in size several times.
  3. The strudel filling: wash the apples and remove the cores, cut them into cubes, add sugar, cinnamon, chopped almonds, raisins, and chopped or crumbled bread, and mix well.
  4. Roll out the finished dough well so that it becomes very thin, even with your hands you can stretch it.
  5. Put the prepared filling and, most importantly, roll it up properly so that the filling does not fall out.
  6. Put the finished strudel on a baking sheet covered with parchment, brush it with butter on top, and put it in the oven for 45 minutes.

Serve the finished treat immediately hot with a scoop of ice cream.
