Korean-style carrots without seasoning: the secrets of cooking your favorite salad
Korean-style carrots are a quick salad and an appetizer at the same time. The dish is budget-friendly, affordable, and made from simple ingredients. If desired, you can add seasoning or replace it with other fragrant spices.
Food blogger Liliia (lileklilek2) shared a recipe for Korean-style carrots with garlic and spices on her Instagram page.
Ingredients:
- carrots – 1 kg
- garlic – 2-4 cloves
- vegetable oil – 100 ml
- vinegar 6% – 50 ml
- salt – 1 tsp.
- sugar – 1 tbsp
- coriander, cumin, paprika, turmeric, ground pepper – 1 tsp each
Method of preparation:
1. Grate the carrots on a Korean carrot grater.
2. Add all the spices and chopped garlic to the carrots.
3. Heat the oil until hot and pour it over the carrots. Stir to make the juice flow.
4. Add the vinegar and mix again. Cover and leave in the refrigerator for several hours.
Cooking secrets:
- It is recommended to add vegetable oil to the dish when it is heated. At the same time, it is important not to bring it to a boil so that it does not release harmful substances and make the carrots bitter.
- If you have added too many spices to the appetizer, walnuts will help to remedy the situation.
- If the carrots are sweet on their own, you don't need to add sugar.
- Sesame seeds, which should be fried in a frying pan beforehand, or sesame oil will help to diversify the taste of the salad.
