Korean herring: how to salt fish in a delicious and new way
Korean herring is an ideal recipe if you want to salt fish in a new way and at the same time make a spicy homemade appetizer. This method is very budget-friendly and requires only affordable ingredients, the main thing is to choose the right spices.

Ingredients:
- herring - 1 pc
- carrots - 1 pc
- onion - 1 pc
- ground coriander - 1 tsp.
- refined vegetable oil - 40 ml
- salt
- red hot ground pepper - 1/2 tsp.
- sugar - 1/2 tsp
- vinegar 9% - 35-40 ml
- greens (for serving)
Method of preparation:
1. Clean the fish: remove the head, fins, and skin. Divide the carcass into two parts, remove the ridge, remove small bones with tweezers.
2. Cut the fillet into long pieces of equal width.
3. Grate the carrots on a Korean carrot grater.
4. Put the herring and carrots in a bowl.
5. Thinly slice the onion and add to the fish.
6. Add the rest of the spices. Stir to combine.
7. Cover the herring with a plate and put weight on it. Put it in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours.
8. Sprinkle with greens before serving.
