Juicy cabbage pies without yeast: can be cooked in the oven and in a frying pan
Cabbage pies are budget-friendly, quick, and a great complement to first courses. They are made from a simple dough with water and do not require yeast. The filling is juicy and has a light sweet flavor. The pies can be cooked in the oven or in a frying pan.
Food blogger Oksana Bilinska, known as oxana_bil, shared a recipe for yeast-free cabbage pies on her Instagram page.
Ingredients:
Dough:
- kefir - 380 ml
- baking soda - 0.5 tsp.
- eggs - 1 pc.
- flour - 500 g
- vegetable oil - 2 tbsp.
The filling:
- onion - 1 pc.
- carrot - 1 pc.
- cabbage - 400 g
- salt - 0.5 tsp.
- pepper
- Provencal herbs
- butter - 20 g
- water - 100 ml
Method of preparation:
1. Preparation of the dough. Add salt, baking soda, eggs and oil to the kefir. Mix well.
2. Gradually add flour and knead the dough. Cover with plastic wrap and leave it for 20 minutes.
3. Prepare the filling. Chop the onion, grate the carrots, chop the cabbage. Stew the vegetables until soft, adding spices, butter and water.
4. Form the pies. Roll out the dough and cut out circles.
5. Put the filling and form the pies.
6. The pies can be fried in a frying pan or greased with an egg and baked at 180-190 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
