Instead of mayonnaise: how to make teriyaki sauce for meat, fish and salads

For those who are tired of dressing salads with banal mayonnaise sauce or regular oil, you should try teriyaki sauce. With its spicy notes, it is quite versatile and suitable for meat, fish, and salads. And teriyaki is prepared based on soy sauce, adding various spices and ingredients to your taste.
The recipe for teriyaki sauce was shared by popular chef Valerii Ponomar (ponomar_valeriy) on his Instagram page.
Ingredients:
- soy sauce – 200 ml
- water – 150 ml
- starch – 1 tbsp
- ginger – 5 slices
- garlic – 2 cloves
- zest – 1\2 orange
- juice – 1\2 orange
- sugar – 150 g
How to cook:
1. Dissolve the starch in water.
2. Mix all ingredients except water. Cook over low heat for 5 minutes.
3. Add water and starch and cook for another 3 minutes. Cool.
4. Strain the sauce and store it in the refrigerator.
Some tips from the expert:
- It is best to add sugar gradually, tasting the sauce. Because soy sauces vary in saltiness.
- To make the sauce have a slight shine, you can add a little vegetable oil to it.
