Incredibly tender and crispy donuts for borscht: how to bake at home

The only thing better than a delicious and rich Ukrainian borsch is a borsch combined with tender and crispy donuts, full of garlic flavor.

Food blogger Olha Riabenko shared the recipe for these donuts on Instagram . She also told us how to make a garlic sauce that will taste perfect with the dumplings.

Ingredients for the dough:

  • Yeast – 7 grams dry, or 21 grams live
  • Warm milk – 300 ml
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Oil – 50 ml
  • Flour – 430 grams
  • Egg for greasing – 1 pc

Ingredients for garlic sauce:

  • Garlic – 2-3 cloves
  • Water – 2 tbsp
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Dill

Method of preparation:

1. Pour all the ingredients into a bowl or bowl of a food processor and knead the dough well.

2. Put the dough into a greased bowl, cover with a towel and leave in a warm place for 1.5 hours.

3. When the dough has risen, divide it into equal pieces, depending on the size of the doughnuts you want to make.

4. Form balls and put them in the mold. Cover with a towel and leave in a warm place for 30 minutes.

5. When all the doughnuts are set and joined together, brush with egg and bake for 20 minutes at 180°.

6. For the sauce, mix all the ingredients and brush the hot donuts with it. The pastries will absorb the dressing and acquire an unsurpassed taste and aroma.
