How to store spices so that they do not lose flavor: a simple life hack that will help save money
Housewives try to keep spices in beautiful glass jars, which also serve as a kitchen decoration. However, this method of storing them only leads to a quick loss of flavor.
Mirror figured out how to store spices properly. Matt Webster, founder of Seasoned Pioneers, says that most spices can be stored for about 2-3 years. However, with proper storage, this period can be increased to almost 10 years.
As it turned out, to store spices properly, you need to abandon the extremely beautiful and aesthetic jars. Spices should be stored in an airtight and opaque container that is not made of plastic or glass.
Additionally, spice containers should be kept away from sources of heat and moisture, such as the stove or dishwasher. They will be stored better in a dark and cool place.
The expert also noted that if spices start to smell like musk or lose their aroma altogether, it is better to get rid of them because they have expired.
