How to save oversalted sauce: simple life hacks
Sauces never lose their relevance, as they can liven up even the simplest dish. Their advantage is that they can be prepared in minutes, and the ingredients for them can be easily found in the refrigerator. Often, when cooking according to an unknown recipe, you can't always guess the proportions and end up over-salting.
The FoodOboz editorial team will tell you how to save a salted sauce, based on the advice of POPSUGAR.
French cream-based sauces – add a little cream or brown sugar to neutralize the salt.
Tomato sauces – also add a little brown sugar, which will create a pleasant sweet flavor.
Light sauces, such as herb sauces, should be squeezed with a little lemon juice to help balance the saltiness.
As for the consistency of the sauce:
- If the sauce is too thick, you can thin it with unaged broth.
- You can try adding wine, but in this case, you need to cook the sauce a little longer until all the alcohol has evaporated. Otherwise, the sauce will become too bitter.
