How to salt lard for borscht: a recipe for a delicious appetizer
Lard is a delicious, hearty traditional Ukrainian product that can be eaten in any form: raw, baked, fried, boiled, and added to various dishes. Most often, lard is served with borscht, and it can be done in an original and unusual way.
One of the blogs (korusni_korusnosti) published a recipe for salted lard with horseradish and mustard in the form of a roll on Instagram.
Ingredients:
- lard - 1 kg
- hot mustard - 3 tbsp.
- red horseradish - 3 tbsp. l.
- chopped greens - 1 tbsp.
- salt, pepper
Method of preparation:
1. Cut the lard into thin and equal slices.
2. Chop the herbs and mix them with horseradish and mustard.
3. Cover a work surface with cling film. Put the overlapping slices of lard on top in several rows. Season the lard with salt and pepper and brush with the sauce.
4. Wrap the lard in a roll and sprinkle it generously with pepper. Put the appetizer first in the refrigerator for 1 day, and then in the freezer until it is completely frozen.
