How to salt herring deliciously: the simplest technology

Herring is a fish that is ideal for pickling. But to make the product tasty, you need to make the right marinade. To do this, you need to calculate the proportions.

The idea of making salted herring was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Maryna Ivash (maryna_ivash).

Ingredients:

  • water – 1 l
  • salt – 100 g
  • sugar – 1 tbsp
  • citric acid – 1 tsp
  • bay leaves – 3 pcs
  • coriander – 1/4 tsp
  • peppercorns – 3-4 pcs (or ground in about the same volume)
  • cloves – a few pieces (if available, but you can do without)

Method of preparation:

1. Defrost and clean the fish. Leave it whole and cut it after marinating.

2. Prepare the brine: mix all the ingredients, bring to a boil, and let cool completely.

3. Put the fish in a glass container and pour the brine to completely cover the fish.

4. Leave the fish in the liquid for at least a day in a cold place.

5. You can chop, and add oil and onions.

6. Approximately 1 liter of brine is enough for 1 fish. For three fish, 2 liters is enough – tested.
