How to properly and safely marinate lard in the summer: a recipe from a chef

Lard is a very simple, tasty, but most importantly, healthy product that, according to experts, everyone can eat every day - about 100 grams. It can be used to make delicious spreads with garlic, as well as baked, salted, and pickled.

Chef Valeriy Ponomar shared a recipe for delicious, spicy marinated lard with spices, garlic, and paprika on Instagram.

Ingredients:

  • Lard - 1 kg
  • Coarse salt - 2 tbsp. l.
  • Sweet ground paprika 1 tbsp.
  • Ground mustard seeds - 1 tsp.
  • Cumin - 1 tsp.
  • Red hot pepper - 1/2 tsp (to taste)
  • Turmeric - 2/3 tsp.
  • Garlic - 4-5 cloves.
  • Coriander - 1 tsp.
  • Black pepper - 1/2 tsp.

Method of preparation:

1. Freeze the lard before cooking.

2. Cut the lard so that it is well saturated with spices.

3. Mix the salt, pepper, cumin, mustard, paprika, turmeric, hot pepper, garlic, coriander, black pepper.

4. Sprinkle the lard generously with spices.

5. Wrap it in parchment and leave it to marinate in the refrigerator for 5 days.

After marinating well, store the lard in the freezer.
