How to prepare puffy cabbage pies in a new way: an unexpected solution

The dough for cabbage pies has its own nuances, and even the smallest mistake can ruin the dish. So that even beginners can make it, pies can be steamed. They turn out extremely fluffy and have a juicy filling.

This technology of making pies comes from Korean cuisine, where the dish is usually served with carrots and soy sauce.

The recipe for steamed cabbage pies was shared by food blogger Oksana (oksana_foodblogger) on her Instagram page.

Ingredients:

  • flour - 500-600 g
  • water - 300 ml
  • vegetable oil - 100 ml
  • dry yeast - 1.5 tsp
  • salt - 1.5 tsp
  • sugar - 1 tbsp

The filling:

  • white cabbage - 200 g
  • onion - 1 pc
  • meat (chopped or ground) - 400 g
  • paprika - 1/2 tsp
  • spices for meat - 1 tsp

For serving:

  • Korean-style carrots
  • soy sauce with garlic

Method of preparation:

1. Add sugar and yeast to warm milk. Stir well.

2. Add oil, salt and sifted flour. Knead a soft dough. Leave in a warm place for 1.5 hours.

3. Prepare the filling. Chop or grind the meat and chop the onion and the cabbage. Mix the ingredients.

4. Add spices, salt and paprika. Mix well.

5. Divide the dough into equal parts. Form into balls, cover with a towel and leave for 20 minutes.

6. Form the pies.

7. Cook in a steamer for 40 minutes.
