How to prepare lazy cabbage rolls with buckwheat for a hearty lunch or dinner

If you love cabbage rolls but don't have enough time to cook them, lazy cabbage rolls will be the perfect option. They can be made with different cereals: buckwheat, rice, or even bulgur, which, combined with minced meat, will make a hearty dish for lunch or dinner.

Food blogger Zhanna (zha457) shared a recipe for lazy cabbage rolls with buckwheat on her Instagram page.

Ingredients:

  • buckwheat/rice - 1 tbsp
  • onion - 2 pcs
  • carrot - 1 pc
  • minced meat - 600 g
  • cabbage - 600-700 g
  • eggs - 3 pcs
  • salt, pepper

Sauce:

  • mayonnaise
  • tomato paste/ketchup
  • water
  • salt
  • sugar

Method of preparation:

1. Cook the buckwheat.

2. Grate carrots and onions. Add to the buckwheat.

3. Thinly chop the cabbage. Add it to the buckwheat together with the minced meat and eggs.

4. Season with salt and pepper and mix until smooth.

5. Form the cabbage rolls and put them in a buttered dish.

6. Mix all the ingredients for the sauce and pour over the cabbage rolls. Add bay leaves if desired.

7. Bake in the oven for about 1 hour after boiling.
