How to pickle sorrel for the winter so that it is healthy: no salt needed
Greens such as sorrel can not only be dried or frozen but also pickled and stored for the winter. You can do this with or without salt. The main thing is to use young sorrel without any visible damage.
The FoodOboz editorial team has selected a successful recipe for canned sorrel for the winter in jars, which you can easily prepare without salt.
Ingredients:
- sorrel - 500 g
- water - 400 ml
Method of preparation:
1. First, wash the greens thoroughly.
2. Cut the washed sorrel lengthwise and crosswise. You should get small cubes.
3. Put the chopped sorrel in a saucepan and cover with boiled water. Note that it will immediately begin to shrink in volume. Put the pot on the fire and bring to a boil. After the water has boiled, immediately remove the pot from the stove.
4. Sterilize the jars and lids in advance.
5. At this stage, put the sorrel in jars and close them with lids. Turn the jars upside down and cover with something warm. Leave them in this form until they cool completely.
