How to pickle mackerel so that it can be eaten in Lent: recipe for a delicious marinade
Mackerel is one of the most budget-friendly and healthy fish species that can be baked, pickled, and marinated. It is especially tasty when combined with onions and spicy marinade.
Food blogger Oksana (oksana_dorosh_rezeptu) shared a recipe for delicious mackerel in marinade, which can be eaten during Lent, on her Instagram page.
Ingredients:
- frozen mackerel - 2 pcs.
- onions - 2-3 pcs
- water - 200 ml
- salt - 1 tsp
- sugar - 1 tsp.
- vegetable mix seasoning - 1 tsp.
- ground coriander - 1 tsp.
- oil - 70 g
- vinegar - 50 ml
- bay leaves
- black peppercorns
Method of preparation:
1. Peel the fish and remove the insides. Cut into portions and put in a saucepan in one layer.
2. Cut the onion into rings and place between each piece of fish.
3. Mix the remaining ingredients for the marinade and bring to a boil. Pour over the fish.
4. Put the fish in the marinade back on the stove, bring to a boil and cook for another 5-7 minutes. Then cool the fish and store it in the marinade.
