How to pickle lard in 5 minutes at home: the best method
Lard is a tasty, hearty traditional Ukrainian product that can be eaten in any form: raw, baked, fried, boiled, and added to various dishes. One of the easiest ways to prepare it is to pickle it. You can pickle it in marinade or brine, or just with spices.
A recipe for pickled lard with spices was published on one of the cooking blogs (podomashnemutut) on Instagram.
Ingredients:
- lard
- salt, pepper
- green adjika
- smoked paprika
- dried garlic
Method of preparation:
1. First sprinkle a piece of lard with all the spices and then rub them thoroughly with your hands.
2. Leave to marinate in the refrigerator.
If you prefer pickled lard with marinade, there is another option. The recipe was shared by food blogger Maryna Novikova (marisha_recepti) on her Instagram page.
Ingredients for the marinade:
- water - 1 liter
- black peppercorns - 15 pcs.
- bay leaf - 6 pcs.
- ground coriander - 1 tbsp.
- garlic - 1 head
- salt - 4 tbsp
Method of preparation:
1. Bring water to a boil and boil it for 2-3 minutes. Be sure to cool it. Add spices.
2. Cut the lard into cubes.
3. Cut one head of garlic into rings.
4. Put the lard in a container, covering with garlic.
5. Pour the cooled marinade over, cover and leave at room temperature for three days.
6. Then put it in the refrigerator for a day. Be sure to wrap each piece in cling film and put it in the freezer.
