How to pickle cucumbers for the winter in an unusual way: just add one ingredient

Cucumbers are vegetables that are the main ingredient in the preparation of delicious and healthy salads and even drinks. In the summer, all housewives pickle and salt them or use them to make spicy salads for the winter.

Culinary expert Yevhen Klopotenko has shared a recipe for delicious pickled cucumbers with hay that will surprise you with its taste on his website.

Ingredients:

  • cucumbers - 1 kg
  • hay - 1 bunch
  • water - 1 liter
  • garlic - 5 cloves
  • salt - 2 tbsp
  • sugar - 2 tbsp
  • black peppercorns - 6 pcs
  • cloves - 2 buds
  • bay leaf - 4 pcs
  • vinegar - 2 tbsp
  • dill, cherry leaves, and currant leaves to taste

Method of preparation:

1. Wash the cucumbers and cover them with water. Leave for 2-3 hours.

2. Afterwards, be sure to cut the tops off.

3. Put a bunch of hay, currant or cherry leaves, and dill on the bottom of the jar.

4. Next, stack the cucumbers, sprinkling with the spices.

5. Bring water to a boil and pour over the cucumbers. Cover, let stand for 5 minutes, and drain.

6. Next, boil another 1 liter of water, pour it back into the jar with the cucumbers and leave for another 15 minutes. Then drain the water into a saucepan.

7. Add salt and sugar to the water and bring to a boil until they are completely dissolved.

8. Add the vinegar and remove the marinade from the heat.

9. Pour into jars, close with lids and let cool.

10. Store in a cool place.
