Trifle is a traditional English dessert based on sponge cake, berries, chocolate, and cream. Don't be intimidated by the fact that you need to make a sponge cake, because if you follow the recipe, it will turn out very well.

Liza Hlinska, a pastry chef and judge of the MasterChef project, shared a simple and delicious recipe for chocolate trifle with whipped cream, caramel, and berries on her YouTube channel.

A delicious trifle dessert

Ingredients for the dough:

  • flour - 30 g
  • sugar - 30 g
  • eggs - 50 g
  • dark chocolate - 40 g
  • butter - 30 g
  • milk - 30 ml
  • cocoa powder - 5 g
  • baking powder - 2 g
  • salt - a pinch

Caramel sauce:

  • sugar - 100 g
  • heavy cream - 180 ml
  • butter - 30 g
  • whipped cream - 300 ml
  • raspberries - 200 g

Method of preparation:

  1. In a bowl, mix the chocolate with milk and butter, and send it to the microwave or to a water bath to melt.
  2. Separately, combine flour, baking powder, salt, cocoa powder and mix.
  3. Mix the egg and sugar separately, add the melted chocolate, mix, and add the flour with cocoa and baking powder. Mix everything thoroughly.
  4. Pour the resulting mixture into two molds and send it to bake in the microwave for 3 minutes.
  5. Caramel sauce: pour the sugar into a saucepan, put it on the fire, and wait until it is completely melted and turns into caramel.
  6. Heat the cream well in a separate saucepan.
  7. When the caramel turns brown, add the hot cream and a piece of butter, stir and remove from the heat, leave to cool completely.
  8. Take the finished sponge cake out of the molds, and tear it into small pieces so that it cools down quickly.
  9. Whip the sugar-free cream well.
  10. You can assemble the dessert: put the cream on the bottom of the glass, sponge cake, caramel, and raspberries on top.

It is best to refrigerate the dessert for a while, so it will be even tastier.
