How to make teriyaki sauce at home: tips

Teriyaki sauce is a spicy and slightly sweet addition to any dish. This product can be found in many oriental restaurants, where it is most often served with meat or fish. The consistency of the dish is somewhat thick and a bit like caramel. And you can achieve this effect even at home.

The idea of making homemade teriyaki sauce was shared by Odesa chef Valeriy Ponomar. It was published on his Instagram page.

Ingredients:

  • soy sauce - 200 ml
  • water - 150 ml
  • starch - 1 tbsp
  • ginger - 5 slices
  • garlic - 2 cloves
  • zest of half an orange
  • juice of half an orange
  • sugar - 150 g

Method of preparation:

1. Mix all ingredients except water and cook over low heat for 5 minutes.

2. Add water and starch and cook for another 3 minutes.

3. Add 100 g of sugar first and then adjust to taste.

4. You can add a little vegetable oil for shine
