How to make real oriental halva at home: the experience of food bloggers

Halva is the most popular of all oriental sweets. You can buy this dessert in many stores, but it is hard to call it real: it contains a lot of sugar, fat, and palm oil. Therefore, the best idea is to make halva at home from natural and proven products. It will become a real decoration and a delicious addition to the festive table.

Honey and nuts for halva

  • butter - 180-200 g
  • flour - 350 g
  • powdered sugar - 200 g

Method of preparation:

  1. Melt the butter in a frying pan.
  2. When it starts to boil, gradually add flour – half of it at first. Stir constantly to avoid lumps.
  3. Fry over low heat for about 30 minutes. Then add the other half and cook for another 25-30 minutes.
  4. Fry until caramel color and pleasant aroma.
  5. Add powdered sugar, mix well, and remove from heat immediately. Add chopped nuts if desired. Continue stirring for 5 minutes.
  6. Put everything on a plate and tamp until the halva is smooth.
  7. While it is still warm, make patterns as desired and cut into diamonds.
  8. Then, when the dessert has cooled, sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Cocoa and chocolate for desserts

Ingredients:

  • Sunflower seeds
  • Honey
  • Cocoa butter
  • Cocoa powder

Method of preparation:

  1. Fry the seeds well in a frying pan without oil.
  2. Pour on a plate, and let it cool.
  3. Grind in small portions with a coffee grinder.
  4. Add liquid honey to the mixture and mix well with your hands.
  5. Form into candies/bars. Put them in the refrigerator.
  6. Meanwhile, prepare the icing.
  7. Finely chop the cocoa butter.
  8. Melt it together with cocoa powder in a water bath.
  9. Take the halva out of the fridge, cover with the glaze, and put it back in the fridge to harden.

How to grind the seeds correctly

They need to be ground until the oil starts to be released and the mass sticks to the walls. Then it will be easy to form candies. If the honey is not liquid, it is better to melt it in a water bath first.
