Recipe for homemade granola without sugar

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 100 g of oatmeal
  • 40 g of dates
  • 20 g of hazelnuts
  • 20 g of almonds
  • 15 g of sesame seeds
  • 15 g of chia seeds
  • 40 ml of olive oil
  • 15 g of peeled pumpkin seeds


  1. Preheat the oven to 150ºC. Meanwhile, chop the hazelnuts and almonds. Also, cut the dates into small pieces.
  2. Add the oatmeal, hazelnut, almond, date pieces, sesame seeds, chia seeds, and pumpkin seeds to a bowl. Mix all the ingredients well and pour in the olive oil. If you wish, you can make the granola sweeter. To do this, add a tablespoon of honey and mix everything again.
  3. Place the parchment paper on an oven tray and pour the mixture on top, spreading it over the entire space. Bake for 5-6 minutes, making sure it does not burn. After this time, stir the mixture and bake for another 3-4 minutes or until crispy.
  4. After cooking, it will take about an hour for the granola to cool. Then it should be transferred to a glass jar for storage.

Notes and tips

One of the advantages of making homemade granola is that you can make it with the ingredients you like best (such as coconut, dried apricots, bananas, or walnuts).

As mentioned in step 2 of the recipe, a spoonful of honey is optional. However, thanks to the use of dates as one of the main ingredients, the granola will be sweet enough as it is.

Granola can be eaten separately, as well as included in breakfasts or snacks. The crunchy texture will add a special flavor to any dish. A good example is yogurt with fresh fruit and granola. It also goes well with salads or homemade banana smoothies.
