Currant is a very tasty and healthy berry, which is especially high in vitamin C. Experts recommend eating it raw, which is how it will be most useful. It is also used to make delicious pie fillings, jams, ice cream, and yogurt.

Culinary expert Yevhen Klopotenko has shared a recipe for a delicious currant jam, which will be thick and tasty,  on his website.

Cooking tips. You can use fresh or frozen currants to make jam. To spice up the flavor, you can add black pepper or a pepper mixture - red, white, green and black. And if you really want to get more spice, add chili pepper.

Ingredients:

  • black currants - 1 kg
  • sugar - 500 g
  • black pepper - to taste

Method of preparation:

1. Rinse the currants well. Let the water drain and put them in a large saucepan with a thick bottom.

2. Cover with sugar and leave for 10 minutes to let the berries juice.

3. Put the saucepan on a small fire, bring to a boil and cook for 10-15 minutes.

4. Crush the black peppercorns and add to the jam.

5. Pour the jam into sterile jars and close with lids.
