How to make an ordinary pumpkin pie gourmet: just one ingredient

Pumpkin is one of the healthiest fall vegetables. But to make it really tasty, the product needs to be properly prepared. It's a great idea to make a pie – a hearty dish that can be served to a large family. It is ideal for evening gatherings. One interesting ingredient can complement the taste of such a culinary masterpiece.

The idea of making a healthy pumpkin pie was shared by nutritionist dr.lakusta on her Instagram page. The expert advises adding orange zest to the dough – it goes perfectly with pumpkin, adding a special spice and flavor to the dish.

Ingredients:

  • eggs - 2 pcs
  • flour - 200 g
  • sugar - 130 g
  • olive oil - 70 g
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • orange zest - 1 tsp
  • salt - a pinch
  • pumpkin puree - 200 g
  • walnuts - 100 g (pre-dry in a frying pan)

Method of preparation:

Orange for the dough
  1. Peel the pumpkin, cut it into small cubes, and bake.
  2. Let cool and grind with a blender or pestle.
  3. Leave it for a while.
  4. Prepare the dough. Add sugar and a pinch of salt to the eggs in a bowl.
  5. Beat the mass well into a light foam.
  6. Add olive or coconut oil and pumpkin puree, and mix well.
  7. Pour in the flour and add the baking powder.
  8. Knead the dough, and grate the zest of one orange.
  9. Put the dough into a baking dish.
  10. You can make one large cupcake or bake the dough in portioned muffins.
  11. Bake for 40-50 minutes at 180 degrees.
