How to make a tall sponge cake with 3 ingredients: a secret from a chef
Sponge cake is the basis for many desserts, but to make a successful sponge cake, you need to strictly observe the proportions and baking time, otherwise, it will not be tasty or fluffy at all.
Food blogger Yuliia Vilich shared on Instagram a recipe for a tall and fluffy 3-ingredient sponge cake that is very easy to make.
A tip from the chef: add 1 tsp of baking powder to the dough!
Ingredients:
- eggs – 5 pcs
- sugar – 140 g
- flour – 140 g
- optional + 1 tsp. baking powder, this will add height
Method of preparation:
1. Beat the eggs at room temperature with sugar for 7-10 minutes to make the mixture light in color and increase in volume.
2. Add the flour in two batches and mix very gently clockwise with a spatula from the bottom to the top until the flour is all dispersed in the dough.
3. Immediately pour the finished dough into a parchment-lined baking dish and bake in a preheated oven at 175 C for 35-40 minutes
4. Let it cool slightly in the open oven, then take the sponge cake out of the mold, then put it in the refrigerator for at least 5 hours so that it cuts well and does not crumble!
