How to keep fruits and vegetables fresh for as long as possible: golden rules from a food blogger
Do you still go to the grocery store more often than you'd like because the fruits and vegetables in your fridge spoil too quickly? Then read on...
Food blogger Amy Cross shared a great life hack for keeping food in the fridge on her Instagram. By following these golden rules, you will visit grocery stores much less often, as fruits and vegetables will last for weeks.
After returning from the store, Cross spends about 30 minutes washing all the fruits, vegetables, and herbs. First, she rinses them under cold water for two minutes, washing away any remaining dirt. Next, the products should be soaked in a solution of vinegar and water and left for us for 15-20 minutes to kill the mold spores. The only thing left to do is to wipe dry and put it in the refrigerator.
Avocados, lemons, and other vegetables should always have their stickers removed. And peppers, lettuce, cucumbers, and potatoes should be washed separately from the rest of the food. After washing, lettuce should be dried in a special appliance.
When this process is complete, leave the products on the table for 2-3 hours to dry completely. It is best to put them on kitchen towels. After that, put all the food in the refrigerator.
