How to get rid of an unpleasant smell from the refrigerator
It often happens that the refrigerator develops an unpleasant odor. And even expensive products do not help to get rid of it.
Therefore, the FoodOboz editorial team will help you understand the causes of the problem and how to fix it.
Why there is an unpleasant odor in the refrigerator:
- food with specific flavors;
- improper storage of food;
- power outages.
What will help get rid of the problem
Baking soda
Take out the entire contents of the freezer and prepare a simple solution: dilute 2 tbsp of the powder in 1 liter of water. Soak a clean cloth in the solution and wash all surfaces with it, and then wipe with a dry cloth. Leave it for a while to allow the freezer to air out.
Salt and sugar
Mix salt and sugar, pour them into an open container, and leave it in the freezer for a few days.
Vinegar
Take all the food out of the freezer. Dilute table vinegar with water in a small container, soak a sponge in the solution, and go over all surfaces one or several times. Then wipe them with a dry cloth.
Coffee
Coffee beans and grounds absorb odors well because they are considered natural absorbents. Simply place a saucer with the beans or pre-dried grounds in the freezer for a few hours.
Ammonia
Take ammonia and dilute it in water in equal proportions. Dampen a cloth or sponge in the resulting solution and walk over the surfaces of the freezer. Then it should be left open for several hours.
Rye bread
Bread is another absorbent. Cut it into slices and leave it in the freezer overnight.
Citrus fruits
Citrus fruits can even remove the odor of old meat. Take an orange, for example, cut it in half and carefully remove the flesh. Pour baking soda inside. Put the absorbent on the shelf of the freezer until the odor disappears.
Another option is lemon slices. Cut a lemon into small pieces and put it on a saucer. Then put it in the freezer. This natural flavoring should be changed about once a week.
