If you have mint growing in your garden, you are already lucky. In the summer, it becomes a real find: refreshing cocktails and tea are made with it, and baked goods are decorated with sprigs.

But the season is quickly ending, and you want to enjoy the taste and smell of mint longer. So FoodOboz decided to tell you how you can freeze this plant to extend its life.

Mint is a great addition to drinks.

Whichever method you choose, the preparation of mint for freezing is always the same. Before you start packing the plant for the freezer, the cut branches should be placed in a bowl of cold water for a few minutes. Then they should be rinsed under running water and laid out on a towel to dry.

Method #1

The most popular option is to freeze mint with whole branches. To do this, you need to put them in bags: carefully but tightly pack them and send them to the freezer. Alternatively, you can cut the branches into small pieces and put them in a jar.

Method #2

For those who like a more sophisticated way of freezing, this is the option for you. Here you will need an ice cube tray or silicone molds. Small leaves and mint tops should be carefully placed in the molds. Approximately 4-6 pieces for each. Then you should fill them with cold boiled water, and then put them in the freezer for several hours. Then the frozen mint should be removed from the molds and put into a bag.

Method #3

If your mint is wilted or too crumpled after harvesting, this option is ideal. Freezing it in the form of a puree will save the day. All you need to do is load the washed leaves into a blender and whisk. Then the mass must be put into molds and sent to the freezer.

You can store frozen mint for about a year.
