How to cook the legendary herring vorschmack in 5 minutes: without bread and apples
Vorschmack is a legendary fish appetizer that originates from the glorious seaside city of Odesa. Vorschmack is made from herring, adding carrots, bread, melted cheese, and even apples. The appetizer has many cooking options, but no matter what recipe you choose, the dish will still be perfect.
Food blogger Oleksiy Kryuchkov (kruchkov.food) shared a recipe for herring vorschmack without bread and apples on his Instagram page.
Ingredients:
- herring - 500-600 g
- processed cheese - 2 pieces
- butter - 100 g
- boiled carrots - 2 pcs
Method of preparation:
1. First, beat the herring with a blender until a paste-like mass is formed.
2. Add processed cheese, carrots and butter to the resulting mass. Beat again until smooth.
3. If you wish, you can add spices to the finished vorschmack, but keep in mind that herring is quite salty on its own.
4. Serve the finished vorschmack on croutons or bread.
