How to cook successful dumplings with cherries without soda and baking powder: a recipe from Yevhen Klopotenko

One of the most delicious and beloved dishes is dumplings, which can be made with different doughs and with various savory and sweet fillings.

The chef Yevhen Klopotenko shared a recipe for delicious dumplings with cherries on his website, the dough for which will not be too stiff.

To make the dough successful without soda, add milk and butter!

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • flour - 500 g
  • milk - 250 ml
  • eggs - 1 pc.
  • sunflower oil - 1 tbsp.
  • salt - 1/2 tsp.

The filling:

  • pitted cherries - 400 g
  • sugar - 1-2 tbsp.
  • semolina - 1 tbsp. 
  • salt - a pinch

Method of preparation:

1. Wash the cherries, and remove the pits.

2. Sift the flour, add salt, egg, and oil, milk, and knead the dough with your hands.

3. Roll it out and press it into dumpling molds.

4. Filling: add a tablespoon of semolina and sugar to the peeled cherries, and mix well.

5. Spread a little filling on one edge of the circle and gently press down on the other side. Pinch the edges of the dough well to prevent the filling from leaking out of the dumpling during cooking.

6. Bring the water to a boil, add the dumplings, and cook until they float.
