How to cook rice correctly: life hacks from Yevhen Klopotenko
Rice is a valuable product that is not only tasty but also very healthy. In addition, it can be used to make various dishes, such as pilaf, stuffed cabbage, and milk porridge. The most important thing is to cook it properly.
Chef Yevhen Klopotenko shared life hacks on his YouTube channel that will help you cook puffed rice with ease.
Tips from the chef:
1. For perfect rice, use 1 part rice and 2 parts water.
2. Let the rice boil for 5 minutes after the water boils, then turn off the heat, cover the saucepan, and let it stand for 10-15 minutes.
Klopotenko noted that when cooking round-grain rice, the time should be reduced by 5 minutes, for unpolished rice – increase by 15 minutes.
Persian-style rice according to Yevhen Klopotenko's recipe
Ingredients:
- long-grain rice – 480 g
- carrot – 1 pc
- onion – 1 pc.
- dried apricots – 200 g
- peanuts – 100 g
- raisins – 100 g
- walnuts – 100 g
- sunflower oil – 40 ml
- orange – 1 pc
- cardamom – 2 g
- barberry – 10 g
- anise – 2 stars
- salt, pepper – to taste
Method of preparation:
1. Soak the rice.
2. Add butter to the rice and cover with boiling water, add salt and cook for 15 minutes.
3. Dice the onion and carrot and fry until soft.
4. Grate the zest and add to the pan, then add cardamom, anise, barberry, raisins, pieces of dried apricots, chopped walnuts and peanuts.
5. Transfer the finished roast to the cooked rice, stir, and leave to stand for 30 minutes.
