  • split peas – 1 cup
  • water – 3 cups
  • salt/pepper – to taste
  • butter - 50 g
  • garlic – 1 clove
  • lard or bacon – 200 g
  • onion – 1 pc
  • carrots – 1 pc

1. Rinse the porridge and cover with hot water.

2. Leave for at least an hour, preferably overnight.

Preparing the roast

3. Drain the water and add clean water in a ratio of 1:3 (porridge 1: water 3).

4. Cook for about an hour.

5. Chop the onion and fry until golden brown.

6. Grate the carrots, and add to the onions.

7. When the water barely covers the peas, add the roast.

9. At the end of cooking, add salt/pepper, butter, and grated garlic to the porridge.
