How to cook lecho sauce: recipe from AFU chef
Lecho (lecsó) is a classic Hungarian dish that has gained great popularity in many European countries. In Ukraine, many people consider it to be a national dish. Lecho does not have a clear recipe, however, it must include tomatoes, bell peppers and onions. It is thanks to these ingredients that the dish acquires its flavor.
A chef of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the call sign "Viking" shared his own recipe for lecho on the YouTube channel of the 141st Infantry Brigade. He claims that this dish can be easily prepared even in the field.
Ingredients
- meat broth - 1.5-2 liters
- onion - ½ kg
- bell pepper - 1 kg
- fresh or canned tomatoes - 700 g
- garlic - 50 g
- mixture of peppers - to taste
- sugar - to taste
- salt - to taste
- vinegar or brine - 20 ml
The method of preparation
1. Cut the onions into half rings, peppers into strips, and tomatoes into cubes.
2. Heat the broth in a frying pan and add all the chopped vegetables. Stew.
3. Add all the spices to taste.
4. Add vinegar or brine and mix.
5. Simmer for 15-20 minutes. Vegetables should be al dente and retain their elasticity.
