How to cook forshmak: the most accurate recipe for a delicious appetizer
Forshmak is a delicious appetizer made from salted herring, which is flavored with green apples and delicate butter. It is important to remove all the bones from the fish and cut the fillet very finely.
Chef Valentyna Sayenko shared a recipe for a real forshmak made from lightly salted herring with eggs, apples, and cream cheese on Instagram.
Ingredients:
- lightly salted herring – 1 pc.
- eggs – 1 pc.
- onion – 1/2 pc.
- green apple – 1/4 pc.
- cream cheese – 50 g
- lemon juice – 10 g
- soft butter – 50 g
- black pepper – a pinch
Method of preparation:
1. Peel the herring, remove all the bones, and chop finely.
2. Boil an egg and grate it on a fine grater.
3. Chop the onion very finely, and grate the peeled apple on a fine grater.
4. Put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix.
Serve forshmak with croutons!
