How to cook delicious and rich cabbage soup: recipe with sauerkraut

Cabbage soup or kapusniak is a traditional Ukrainian dish. It is a hearty, thick cabbage soup with meat broth. You can use fresh young cabbage or sauerkraut, and if you wish, you can add cereals, such as millet.

The recipe for cabbage soup with sauerkraut and millet was published on one of the cooking blogs (vesela_mila) on Instagram.

Ingredients:

  • pork - 300 g
  • potatoes - 5 pcs
  • sauerkraut - 300 g
  • millet - 100 g
  • onions - 2 pcs
  • bay leaves - 3 pcs
  • salt, pepper

Method of preparation:

1. First, cook the pork broth.

2. Chop the potatoes and add them along with the millet when the broth is ready. Cook until millet and potatoes are tender.

3. Chop the onion and fry until golden brown. Add to the broth.

4. Squeeze out the sauerkraut and add it to the pot. Add salt and pepper. Cook over low heat for another 10-15 minutes.
