How to cook banosh with cracklings and bryndza
Banosh is a traditional Ukrainian dish that is most commonly cooked in the Carpathian region. As a rule, the dish is prepared with corn porridge, sour cream, and cream. It is garnished with cracklings and cheese.
On Instagram, chef Mykola Liulko shared a recipe for authentic Ukrainian banosh with cracklings and cheese, which can be prepared at home in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients:
- fat sour cream - 200 g
- bacon or smoked lard - 200 g
- cheese - 100 g
- milk - 700 ml
- corn grits - 250 g
- sugar - 1 tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
Method of preparation:
1. Cut the lard and fry it until golden brown.
2. Add sour cream, sugar, salt and corn grits to the milk, put on the fire and cook until the porridge thickens, stirring.
3. Crumble the cheese with your hands.
4. Put the cooked porridge on a plate, sprinkle with cheese, add cracklings and serve.
