How to bake bread without electricity and gas: the best and fastest way

Bread is the most popular product that almost all Ukrainians love and eat on a daily basis. It can be prepared in different ways and from different doughs, even without kneading and without yeast. In the absence of electricity and gas, it is very difficult, but possible.

The FoodOboz editorial team shares with you tips and a lifehack shared by German user Weltverborgen on her YouTube channel, how to bake bread at home in a pan and with the help of candles, as well as a simple recipe for the perfect dough for the dish.

Auxiliaries :

  • pill candles - 6-7 pcs.
  • Plates of different sizes and shapes
  • rack
  • baking dish
  • a large saucepan with a lid, in which the mold with the dough will fit.

Ingredients:

  • flour - 450 g
  • dry yeast - 1-2 tsp.
  • salt - 1-1.5 tsp.
  • water - 280 ml

Method of preparation:

1. Mix all dry ingredients and stir. Pour in 280 ml of water and mix again thoroughly until homogeneous. When the dough becomes elastic, knead it by hand, cover with cling film and leave in a warm place to rise and double in size.

Preparation method:

1. Sprinkle the mold with flour and place the dough, cover again with clingfilm and leave it to rise and rise for a while.

2. For the "oven": take a large heat-resistant pan, it will replace the oven. Make a space between the bottom of the pan and the mold so that air can circulate. You can take something heavy and put it on the bottom of the pan, like nuts or some tools.

3. Place the candles at a small distance from each other so that they evenly heat the bottom of the pan, and it is important that the distance from the bottom of the pan to the stove or the ground was 7-8 cm, so that the fire does not touch the pan. For this purpose, you can use 4 flat plates to place a rack on top of them and the pan with the dough mold on top of it.

4. Then light the candles and "bake" the bread for three hours. Then take it out and turn it over to the other side and cook for another 1 hour.

Ready bread!
