Homemade pies like McDonald's: recipe by Héctor Jiménez-Bravo
If you can't imagine your life without food from McDonald's, and especially unhealthy, but very tasty pies, then it's time to learn how to make them at home with different fillings to suit your taste. And besides, rest assured - they will definitely work out.
Hector Jimenez-Bravo, chef, TV presenter, judge of the project "MasterChef Ukraine", shared the recipe of real cherry and apple pies like in McDonald's on his Instagram page.
Ingredients for dough (you can buy ready-made puff pastry)
- flour - 200 g
- butter - 100 g
- cold water - 50 ml.
- brown sugar - 1 tsp.
- salt - 10 g
For the stuffing:
- cherries - 200 g
- 2 tbsp. powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp. starch
- 2 apples, peeled, core and chopped
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 50 g. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- juice of ½ lemon
Method of preparation:
- In a saucepan put butter, diced apples, brown sugar, a pinch of salt, starch, cinnamon and lemon juice, bring to a boil and let stand well.
- For the cherry filling: put the cherries in a saucepan, add the starch, powdered sugar, sugar, cook until thickened and let stand.
- Roll out the ready puff pastry, cut into even pieces, smear with egg and immediately put the stuffing, cover with a piece of pastry and pinch the edges with a fork.
- Send to fry in a saute pan with oil until ready - 3-4 minutes.
- Sprinkle the ready pies with sugar.
