Homemade honey cake with sour cream: cooked without an oven

Honey cake is a delicious homemade cake traditionally made with sour cream cream. If you don't want to bother with cooking for a long time, you can make the cake in a pan: no oven and no rolling out of cakes.

Food blogger Victoria Kelbas (kelbas_v) shared a recipe for a honey cake with sour cream that can be made in a frying pan on her Instagram page.

Ingredients:

  • honey - 120 g
  • baking soda - 1.5 tsp
  • butter - 150 g
  • eggs - 4 pcs
  • sugar - 150 g
  • flour - 300 g

For the cream:

  • fatty sour cream from 20% - 600 g
  • powdered sugar - 80-100 g

Method of preparation:

1. Put honey in a saucepan and put on fire. Stirring, bring to a boil and immediately add baking soda. The mass will begin to foam and gradually darken.

Important: when you add the baking soda, cook the mass over low heat until it becomes caramel-colored - about 2 minutes.

2. Remove the finished honey mass from the heat and add the butter. Stir until smooth and let cool.

3. Beat eggs with sugar separately until fluffy.

4. Gradually pour the honey mass into the egg mass. Stir to combine.

5. Add the flour. The dough will be liquid at first, but will gradually thicken.

6. Put a sheet of parchment in a frying pan, grease it with vegetable oil. Pour 3-4 tbsp of batter and smooth it out. Cook under the lid for 5-6 minutes on one side and about 3 minutes on the other side.

7. For the cream, mix sour cream and powdered sugar.

8. Grease the finished cakes with cream, forming a cake. Grease the sides as well.

9. Decorate as desired and refrigerate the finished cake for 4-8 hours.
