Instead of a variety of store-bought drinks with artificial sweeteners and colors, you can make delicious homemade kvass. It's just the thing for the summer heat. All you need for the base is ordinary yeast and chicory.
The idea of making refreshing chicory kvass with yeast was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Tetiana Ryabokin (mama_na_kykhne). The drink is very budget-friendly.
Ingredients:
- water - 5 liters.
- chicory - 2 tbsp
- sugar - 400 g
- citric acid - 1.5 tsp.
- dry yeast - 2 tsp. without a top
Method of preparation:
1. Boil the water.
2. Add sugar.
3. Add citric acid and chicory.
4. Mix everything well.
5. Leave to cool to 30 degrees.
6. Add the yeast.
7. Stir and leave for 2-2.5 hours.
8. Pour and refrigerate.
