Homemade cabbage rolls in a new way: what to add for an unusual filling
Stuffed cabbage is a delicious, hearty, and easy-to-prepare dish even for those who have never cooked it before. If you don't like rice, you can replace it with other cereals, such as bulgur, and add turkey or chicken instead of minced pork.
Cook Myroslava (myroslava_sheva) shared a recipe for delicious homemade cabbage rolls with sweet potatoes, vegetables, bulgur and minced turkey, as well as a savoy cabbage base, on Instagram.
Ingredients:
- minced turkey
- bulgur
- onion
- garlic
- celery stalk
- sweet potato (can be completely replaced with carrots)
- carrots
- tomatoes
- savoy cabbage
- parsley
- cream
- spices (salt, pepper, dry garlic)
Method of preparation:
1. Boil the bulgur (1/2 proportion with water).
2. Dice the onion, grate or finely chop the garlic. Grate the sweet potatoes and carrots and fry everything in a pan until tender. Add the minced meat and stew together. Finally, add spices and parsley.
3. Cook the cabbage leaves in boiling water for a minute. Cut off the thick parts.
4. Use your hands to form cabbage rolls of any shape.
5. For the sauce, fry the onion, garlic and celery stalk. Add the peeled tomatoes, stew well and boil the sauce. Then beat it with a blender, adding cream if desired.
6. Put the cabbage rolls in a baking dish, putting extra cabbage leaves on the bottom, pour the sauce on top of the cabbage rolls and bake at 160-180°C for 40-60 minutes.
Serve the cabbage rolls hot with sour cream.
