Homemade apple kvass for the winter: an alternative to compote
In addition to jam and preserves, apples can be used to make delicious kvass. Apple kvass is very light, fresh, and flavorful. The drink is completely natural and does not contain preservatives and various additives. It's an unusual alternative to the usual juice.
Chef Serhiy shared a recipe for apple kvass for the winter on his Instagram page.
Ingredients:
- apples - 3 pcs.
- water - 2.5 liters
- sugar - 100 g
- dry yeast - 3 g
- water - 100 ml
Method of preparation:
1. First, prepare the apples: they need to be cut into large cubes.
2. Pour the apples into a saucepan, cover with water and put on fire. Heat until the fruit is fully cooked. It takes about 15 minutes. Then cool the apples to room temperature.
3. Meanwhile, mix the yeast, sugar and water. Stir well. Add the resulting mass to the cooled apples. Mix well.
4. At this stage, strain the apples through a sieve.
5. Pour the resulting kvass into bottles and leave it to brew for a day.
