Herring salad without mayonnaise: a very hearty dish
Herring is a budget-friendly and versatile fish that can be salted, used to make appetizers and sandwich spreads. In addition, herring can even be used to make salads. The fish is especially tasty when combined with cucumbers, potatoes, and onions.
Food blogger Oksana Dorosh (oksana_dorosh_rezeptu) shared a recipe for a salad with herring, potatoes, and cucumbers on her Instagram page.
Ingredients:
- herring fillet - 200 g
- boiled potatoes in their skin - 2-3 pcs
- red onion - 1 pc
- pickled cucumbers - 2-3 pcs
- vegetable oil - 4 tbsp
- lemon juice - 2 tbsp
- mustard -1 tsp.
- salt and pepper
- dill
Method of preparation:
1. First, prepare the dressing. To do this, mix the oil, mustard and lemon juice.
2. Boil the potatoes and cut them into large cubes. Mix them with half of the dressing.
3. Dice the cucumber, cut the onion into half rings, and cut the herring into small pieces. Add everything to the potatoes and mix.
4. Add salt, pepper and the rest of the dressing. Put the salad in the refrigerator for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with dill before serving.
