Fragrant and healthy lilac jam in a hurry: it turns out to be as thick as honey
It is at the end of spring that the attractive lilac begins to bloom. You may be surprised to learn that it can be used to make a flavorful jam. The consistency is as thick as honey, and you can see small pieces of flowers inside.
Food blogger Andrii Klyus shared a recipe for a delicious and healthy lilac jam on his Instagram page that anyone can make.
Ingredients:
- lilac flowers (without stems and green parts) - 60 g
- sugar - 120+120 g
- water to cover the flowers - 400-450 ml
- juice of half a lemon
Method of preparation:
1. First, prepare the lilac flowers and separate them from the stems and green parts. Combine the prepared flowers with half the sugar. Lightly mash the flowers with a pestle or mortar to release the juice.
2. Next, pour water over the flowers, put them on the fire and bring to a boil.
3. After the water has boiled, add lemon juice and cook for 15 minutes over medium heat. Then remove from the heat and cool for 15 minutes.
4. At this stage, add the rest of the sugar, put the pan back on the fire and cook until the desired consistency.
5. The finished jam can be poured into jars and rolled up, or eaten immediately.
