Goulash is still popular even today. This traditional Hungarian dish with a thousand-year history is made from small pieces of meat in a thick gravy with spices. Goulash can be served as an independent dish or as a side dish to mashed potatoes, cereals and pasta.

Ingredients:

  • beef - 700 g
  • onion - 1 pc
  • tomato paste - 3 tbsp
  • water - 800 ml
  • butter
  • vegetable oil
  • bay leaf
  • ground black pepper

Method of preparation:

1. Chop the onion and fry in butter with the addition of vegetable oil.

2. Add the chopped beef and fry for 20 minutes.

3. Sprinkle the meat with flour and fry for another 5 minutes.

4. Pour tomato paste diluted in broth or water.

5. Add salt, bay leaf and ground black pepper.

6. Reduce heat and simmer under a closed lid for 1.5 hours.

7. Serve the goulash with mashed potatoes.
