In the conditions of a long power outage, it is very difficult to prepare something to eat, and even more so to store this food for a long time. For such a case, at home there should definitely be products of long storage, as well as those that can be cooked without light.
Nutriciologist Anna Kopus with the nickname ks_anyta on her Instagram page shared a selection of products that are a must-have at home during a blackout.
Protein
- Eggs - can be boiled and stored in a cold place for about 2 days.
- Canned fish/meat
- Dried/canned legumes (chickpeas, beans, lentils) - these can be eaten on their own, or made into hummus by adding olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, salt and whipped with a blender. Such hummus also keeps in a cold place for about 2 days.
- Dried/virgin meat - has a long shelf life.
- Vacuum-sealed cheese (mozzarella, adygea, suluguni).
- Dried legume-based cream soup - it usually needs to be steeped in steep boiling water for 2-3 minutes.
- Protein bars (as a dessert and an additional source of protein).
Fats
- Nuts/seeds.
- Nut pastes.
- Unrefined vegetable oils.
Carbohydrates
- Porridge (kus kus, oatmeal, buckwheat, bulgur) - they can be steamed with boiling water, but the last two are better left in this state for an hour or overnight.
- Breads - perfectly preserved at room temperature.
- Granola - together with yogurt you get an express breakfast or snack.
- Bars based on dried fruits, nuts, seeds.
- Dried fruits - as a dessert after salty food or as a snack, it is better to combine them with nuts to continue satiation.
Vegetables
All fresh vegetables can be easily stored on the balcony or in a cool place you have.
- Beets - can be added right away in a vacuum, also keeps well.
- Boiled cabbage.
- Canned foods (zucchini caviar, corn, peas).
- Vegetable baby purees - it is best to buy in an airtight container.
- Vegetable chips.
