Elementary Caprese puff pastry pie: easier to prepare than pizza

Caprese is not only a salad, but also a hearty pie. It is based on ordinary puff pastry that you can buy at any store. All you need to do is chop the ingredients for the filling, lay them out, and bake them.

The idea of making an elementary caprese puff pastry pie was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Polina with the nickname polli cooking. It's even easier than classic pizza.

Ingredients:

  • puff pastry - 500 g.
  • pesto sauce
  • tomatoes - 2 pcs.
  • mozzarella in brine - 200 g
  • mozzarella in brine
  • salt, herbs of Provence
  • egg yolk - 1 pc.
  • pine nuts
  • basil

Method of preparation:

1. Put the thawed dough on the parchment.

2. Make shallow cuts along the edges.

3. Brush the dough with pesto sauce.

4. Add the sliced tomatoes and mozzarella.

5. Season with salt and sprinkle with Provencal herbs.

6. Brush the edges with egg yolk for a golden brown.

7. Put in a preheated 180 degree oven for 25-30 minutes.

8. If desired, sprinkle the finished pie with pine nuts and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
