Delicious shanks in beer: turn out moderately fatty and juicy
Baked pork shank can be confidently called a traditional Ukrainian dish. This meat is prepared mainly for the New Year holidays. To make it very flavorful and juicy, you need to use beer.
The idea of cooking juicy shanks in beer was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Yulia with the nickname zefirok_for_you.
Ingredients:
- pork shank - 2 pcs.
- cloves - 5 pcs.
- black peppercorns - 1 tsp.
- bay leaves - 2 pcs.
- dark beer - 1.5 liters
- salt - 1-2 tbsp
- garlic - 7-8 cloves
Ingredients for the sauce:
- mustard - 1 tbsp.
- soy sauce - 1 tbsp
- honey - 1 tbsp.
Method of preparation:
1. Wash and clean the shanks well.
2. Cut the garlic into three pieces and sprinkle it over the meat.
3. Put the meat in a large saucepan, add cloves, black peppercorns, bay leaf, salt, and beer.
4. Bring to a boil, remove the foam, cover and cook for three hours.
5. For the sauce, mix mustard, soy sauce, and honey.
6. Next, put the shanks on a baking sheet, brush the meat with the sauce and put it in the oven at 180 degrees for another 30 minutes.
